The purpose of this study is to find the effect of fathering styles on the university students' attachment and career
search self-efficacy. 252 university students did fathering style questionnaire, career search self-efficacy inventory, the
Inventory of Parent and Peer Attachment, object relation inventory. The compassion Mentor fathers had the most positive
effects on attachment and career search self-efficacy of their children. The fatherless and the time-bomb fathers' children
had the weakest attachment and career self-efficacy. the superachieving fathers' children had strong career search
self-efficacy, but their attachment with fathers were relatively unstable. These results shows the fathering style influence
differently to attachment and career search self-efficacy, and it is important to consider fathering style in counselling.
