International Wu-Shu Association had applied the regulations for the more higher degree of difficulty and the
fundamental motions along with the Wu-Shu motion development direction. In line with this, from 2006 onwards,
Korean Wu-Shu Association also had applied differential rating system depending on each grades for the motions
with the degree of difficulty. In order to enhance Wu-Shu competition capabilities all over the world including
China, practice of technique with the high degree of difficulty is necessary. However, there is no research can be
found that systematically defines the integration degree of the motion through analysis of the motion with the high
degree of difficulty. Therefore, this study was undertaken to suggest the way how to improve the competition
capabilities and to approach scientifically when learning Wu-Shu motion by arranging appropriate countermeasures
against any diversified situations being taken place during the competition through analytic research of Chang-Quan
motion.
Taking male Chang-Quan event of domestic Chang-Quan competition in 2006 as an experiment object, this event
was divided into two groups: high rank group(1st-7th grade) and low rank group(12-18th grade) for comparison by
taking pictures.
For more detail comparison, endurance time status of Tengkong-Bailian, lead time for integration of kicking
motion after tengkong motion and the success rate were analyzed. It was found that there was no statistical
difference between the higher level group and the lower level group. Through this study, as a result of comparison
between the high group and the low one, endurance time made little difference. On the contrary, when comparing
the lead time from tengkong till the kicking integration of these two group, a meaningful difference could be
found.
Therefore, through this study, it is suggested that instructing with giving more emphasis on the lead time from
tengkong till the kicking integration rather than on endurance time could be more effective for improving
competition capabilities for the coaches.
