The purpose of this research was to investigate the effect Art Therapy affected improvement of expressional language ability of Elective Mutism Child.
Subjects were two Elective Mutism Children who volunteered to participate Art Therapy program. This Art therapy program was carried out their 40 minutes per time once a week. The pre/post test design was used to evaluate the effectiveness of Art Therapy.
The main concepts of theory are Psychotherapy of Treatment Options for Selective Mutism.
The instrument used to measure the effectiveness of this 20 weeks program were interpersonal anxiety test score, interpersonal relationship test score, HTP, K-HTP, KFD, LMT, FCCD, SOCIAL-ATOM.
The results of this research support all the hypothesis that the program using Art Therapy is effective to improve of expressional language ability in Elective Mutism Child.
First, Art Therapy was significantly effected in Elective Mutism Child of interpersonal anxiety and interpersonal relationship.
Second, Art Therapy is effective to improve of expressional language ability in Elective Mutism Child.
Based on the above findings, the conclusion of this research is Art
Therapy is effective to improve of expressional language ability in Elective Mutism Child.
However, this research could be meaningful in following aspects :
First, this is the first attempt to improve expressional language ability in Elective Mutism Child for applying Art Therapy.
Second, this research could contribute as a baseline model to study and development further in Elective Mutism Child of Art Therapy.
Besides above arguments, restricted conditions for this research and further recommendations are also discussed.
