The purpose of the research is to evaluate the effects of group mother-child art therapy
based on the Solution-focused Family Therapy in the relationship, interaction between single
mothers and their children and their communication with each other. For the research, 6
children and the remaining their mothers took closed group in the one single mothers and their
children. A total of program that is based on Solution-focused Family Therapy was designed to
cooperate and work together to help them learn to understand each other more and discover
each other\'s strengths. In addition to, effect of program\'s from the first to the last was
analyzed with scales of mother-and-child relationship, Parent-Child Interaction(PCI),
Parent-Adolescent Communication Inventory(PACI) for objective identification in program\'s
effectiveness. Firstly, the results show that there was the increase of positive communication
and interaction in the relationship between single mother and child, while the negative
communication and interaction were decreased. Secondly, the results show the increased
frequency of expressing the affection to children from single mothers with more concerns with
their children\'s life. Thirdly, it was confirmed that there was the effectiveness that the
communication between single mother and child in single parent family became more activated.
Also it showed the increase of straightforward and open expression with less negative
expression between single mother and child. Based on such results, it can be concluded that
group mother-child art therapy based on the Solution-focused Family Therapy has positive
effect on mother-child relationships, mother-child interaction and mother-child communication
in single parent families.
