본 연구는 현존작가인 김들내의 작품을 중심으로 개성화 과정이 어떻게 진행되어 가고 있는지에 대하여 칼 융의 분석심리학의 이론을 중심으로 살펴보았다. 김들내는 주로 ‘인형’의 형상을 자신의 대체물로 사용하여 자신의 감정과 무의식을 드러내었는데, 이 인형은 시기에 따라 천진난만한 모습으로 앉아있기도 하고, 누워서 눈물을 흘리기도 하며, 침대와 함께 여행을 떠나기도 한다. 개성화 과정에서 자아에 대한 인식을 위해서는 억압된 그림자의 내용을 수용하는 과정을 겪게 되는데, 김들내는 이를 인형이라는 상징을 통해서 투사하고 은유적으로 표현함으로써 직면에 대한 충격을 완화시키고 세상과 자신을 연결시키고 있다. 또한 김들내가 중반기까지 주로 사용한 판화기법은 이러한 자신의 상처를 치유하는데 필요하였던 바, 이는 집착을 없애기 위한 작품제작의 고된 과정을 위해서 선택되어졌다고 이해된다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 김들내가 자신에게 떠오른 심상을 하나의 심리적인 사실로서 취급하여 이에 대하여 감정적으로 경험하고 의식화하며 다시 다른 심상과 연결해 가는 과정을 분석함으로써 김들내에게 억압되어 있는 내용을 예술작품으로 승화하며 자기(Self)를 찾아가는 과정을 담았다. 또한 이를 통하여 그림자를 의식화하고 감정을 표현하며 이를 통찰하게 하는 미술 고유의 역할과 미술을 통한 치유를 조명하고자 하였다.
This research investigated how the individuation process proceeds focused on the works of contemporary artist, Kim Deulnai based on the theory of Karl Jung's psychology. Kim Deulnai expressed her own emotion and unconsciousness mainly using the shape of 'doll' that is her substitute. As time passes, the doll sits innocently or lies weeping or travels together with a bed. In the individuation process, people experience the procedure of taking the contents of repressed shadow to recognize the self. Kim Deulnai discloses this procedure through the symbol of doll and metaphorically expressed. These relax the shock caused by facing the contents of shadow and let her link to the world. Also the skill of wood print which Kim Deulnai mainly used until the middle period of her career was required to heal her own wound. It is understood that the skill was selected for the hard process of producing works that allow freedom from attachment. Accordingly, this research analyzes the process that Kim Deulnai dealt with the imagery appeared to her as a psychological fact and emotionally experienced the fact and made the unconscious conscious and then, connected the experience with other imagery. Based on this analysis, this research shows the process of seeking herself sublimating the repressed contents within her as artistic work. Also through this analysis, this research tried to investigate the role of the art education which makes shadow conscious, expresses emotion and gives insight, and investigate the healing through the art too.
