The purpose of this study was to examine the effectiveness of the leadership development program for leadership life skill and achievement motivation of elementary school students. The subject group consists of 2 classes from the 3th grade of 6 classes at M elementary school in Daejeon. Pretest was conducted to identify the similarity in the leadership life skill and achievement motivation between the experimental group and the control group before this experiment. Pretest showed that there were not significant differences between the experimental group and the control group in the leadership life skill and achievement motivation. For the experimental group, total 10 sessions of leadership development program
were applied twice a week for 5 weeks, while there's no special treatment to the control group. Some of the remarkable results from the test were as follows; First, leadership development program had positive effects on leadership life skill of elementary school students. There were meaningful differences in the sub-field as learning skill, decision-making skill, skills in working with groups. Second, leadership development program had positive effects on achievement motivation of elementary school students. There were meaningful differences in the sub-field as persisting in task, self-responsibility, futurism. In conclusion, the leadership development program is shown to be very effective in improving leadership life skill and achievement motivation of elementary school students. Accordingly, this program can help to develop leadership and achievement motivation
