This study is to inquire into the effect of art therapy on the problems in externalization, social
competence, daily stress of the institutionalized children. The study subject is one 5th grade elementary schoolboy. This art therapy program was carried our during 30 sessions for about 60 minutes per session, once or twice per week. The measurement tool is K-CBCL, Aggressiveness, MESSY, daily stress scale. The results are as follows. Firstly, it was found out that this program has an effect on the problems in externalization. This program decreases the aggressiveness and delinquency of the institutionalized children. Secondly, this program helps to increase the social competence of them. Thirdly, this program helps to decrease their daily stress. More importantly, this art therapy for the institutionalize children shows a crucial, positive changes by the therapeutic time. Especially, it also shows a consistent change in the further time. Consequently, it is possible to say that it gives a significance for the earliest therapeutic intervention possible in view of the preventiveㆍcurative value.
