The purpose of this study is examine the effects of group art therapy on self-esteem and sociality of the children from community child center. The study subjects are 8 students in 6th grade of elementary school, attending C city's OO community child center. The study was performed between September and December, 2010, total 14 sessions with 1-2times a week and 60 minutes for each session. To verify the effects of group art therapy pre- and post test scores of self-esteem and sociality are analysed by the Wilcoxon Signed-Ranks test. Then, observation and recording of each session and KSD analysis were used for qualitative analysis. The findings of this study show that there are statistically significant differences on pre- and post test scores of self-esteem and sociality. Furthermore, there are meaningful changes in observation and recording of each session and pre- and post KSD analysis, such as size of person, contents, and symbolic meanings of the drawing which can be interpreted as positive changes in self-esteem and sociality of the children from community child center. The results of this study imply that the group art therapy have effects on positive improvement of self-esteem and sociality of the children from community child center.
