This thesis is to inquire into the effect of person-centered art therapy on the decrease of withdrawn behavior and on the increase of self-concept of withdrawn children. The person-centered approach based on the belief that the person knows best, and can reach her own potential in a climate of acceptance, congruence and empathy. The subject was 2 elementary school students who were rated as withdrawn children finally by teachers\' observation among the children selected under the basis of Self-concept Test. The measurement tools were Withdrawn Scale of K-CBCL(Korea-Child Behavior Checklist), Withdrawn Behavior Checklist, Self-Concept Test, DAP(Draw-A-Person). This thesis is a single-case research. And in this thesis, AB design, which was able to find out the effect of the therapeutic intervention by the basic materials collected on the target behavior, was used to identify whether this art therapy was effective on the decrease of withdrawn behaviors and on the increase of self-concept. For the subjects, this art therapy program was carried out during 21 sessions for 60 minutes per sessiontwice a week from February 1, 2010 to April 23, 2010. The results of this study are as follows. Firstly, this art therapy program had a positive effect on the decrease of withdrawn behaviors of the withdrawn children. Secondly, this art therapy program had a positive effect on the increase of self-concept of the withdrawn children.
