"This study is to inquire into the difference in the effects of the general group art therapy and the group art therapy by play on the problem behavior, self-control, and social competence of children. The study object is 10 elementary school boys in the 1st and 2nd grade under the recommendation of teachers, and under the consent of parents. 5 boy students are arranged as the experimental group for the group art therapy by play, and the others, as the comparative group for the general group art therapy. The results of the study are as follows. The difference between the two groups is shown in the hyperactivity and the impulsivity of the problem behaviors and is not shown in self-control and social competence. Especially, the hyperactivity and the impulsivity are reduced more effectively in the experimental group; the hyperactivity and the carelessness of the problem behaviors in the experimental group and all problem behaviors in the comparative group. The self-control is increased more effectively in the comparative group, and the social competence is increased both in the two groups. The achievements above suggest that the differences in similar therapeutic methods should be also considered fully at the actual psychological therapy.
