본 연구는 장애아동 어머니를 대상으로 매체에 따른 만다라 기법을 적용한 후 이완에 미치는 영향을 알아보고자 하였다. 연구대상은 대구광역시 D대학 내 ○○치료실에 의뢰된 아동의 어머니 중 상태특성 불안 척도 검사에서 불안 수준이 상당히 높은 수준인 어머니 1명을 대상으로 선정하여, 미술치료 프로그램을 2008년 4월 7일부터 5월 9일까지 주 3회씩 15회기를 실시하였다. 본 연구의 설계는 단일피험자설계 중 하나인 중재비교설계 중에서 교대중재설계를 이용하여, 통제와 중재를 교대로 배치하여 효과를 비교하고자 하였다. 통제기간에는 숨은 그림 찾기를 중립과제로 사용하였고, 중재 1에는 수채화물감 만다라를 실시하고, 중재 2에는 색연필 만다라를 실시하였다. 전 회기에 걸쳐 대상자의 이완관련 생리적 반응을 측정하기 위해 KMTEC의 Biograph Infiniti를 사용하여 활동 전과 활동 후의 뇌파를 측정하였다. 이에 따른 연구 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 수채화물감과 색연필 모두 장애아동 어머니의 α파를 증가시켰다. 둘째, 수채화물감과 색연필 모두 장애아동 어머니의 β파를 감소시켰다. 따라서 본 연구에서 제시한 매체별 만다라 기법은 장애아동 어머니의 이완에 효과가 있음을 알 수 있었다.
"The purpose of this study was to examine mandala technique depend on medium for relaxation of a mother of children with disability. Study objects included the a mother of children with disability who referred ○○ therapy institute at D university, Dae-gu, and having higher level of anxiety on State-Trait Anxiety Inventory. Art therapy session has been conducted total of 15 sessions, third a week from April 7, 2008 to May 9, 2008. The alternating treatments design as one of single subject designs was employed, and control phase and treatment phase was alternatively arranged in order to compare to effects. Pictorial puzzle was used during control phase, watercolors was used during treatment phase 1 and colored pencil was used during treatment phase 2. Experimental tool was KMTEC's Biograph Infiniti, and pre and post physiological indicators for each medium would be suggested and compared. The results showed that: First, α-wave variation was increased both of two condition, It means that both medium could have effect for relaxation of a mother of children with disability. Second, β-wave variation was decreased both of two condition, It means that both medium could have effect for relaxation of a mother of children with disability. Hence, mandala technique depending on medium of this research has an effect for relaxation of a mother of children with disability.
