The purpose of this study was to compare the differences of thinking and learning styles of high and low academic achievers. In order to accomplish such purpose, the research questions were established as follows. First, how do thinking styles of high and low academic achievers differ? Second, how do learning styles of high and low academic achievers differ? The results of this study are as follows. First, Low academic achievers preferred oligarchic and liberal learning styles than high academic achievers while elementary school students preferred hierarchic, local, external, and conservative learning styles than junior high school students. Second, High academic achievers preferred the competitive learning style whereas low academic achievers preferred the dependent one. Moreover, elementary school students preferred the dependent learning style than junior high school ones. As above the thinking and learning styles of high and low academic achievers differ by the interaction between school levels. Therefore, the difference in academic achievement is not just resulted from the difference in ability but also affected by which way learners prefer when using their intelligence, that is, the styles they use.
