The purpose of this study was investigate the effect of stress coping strategy on job burnout and job attitude of special teachers. The data were collected through a questionnaire written by a sample of 241 teachers working at elementary, middle and high school.
The scales used in this study were Stress Coping Strategy Scales by Kim(2008), Job Burnout Scales by Kim(2009), and Job Attitude Scale by Lee(2004). The results of this study were as follows; First, in according to teacher groups, special school teachers perceived higher stress coping strategy and job attitude than regular school teachers. But, regular school teachers perceived higher job burnout than special school teachers. In according to gender, there was difference partly between male teachers and female teachers in the job burnout and job attitude, but there was no difference between them in the stress coping strategy.
Second, among the subscales of stress coping strategy, self- blame positively influenced depersonalization.
And both self-blame and self-encouragement positively influenced emotional exhaustion, but both strategic․
affirmative coping and social support pursuit negatively influenced emotional exhaustion. And both strategic․
affirmative coping and self encouragement negatively influenced reduced personal accomplishment. Third,
among the subscales of stress coping strategy, both self blame and self encouragement positively influenced turnover intention. But strategic․affirmative coping negatively influenced turnover intention. And strategic․
affirmative coping negatively influenced job involvement. And tension-release․wishful thinking coping positively influenced job satisfaction. Forth, among the subscales of job burnout, both depersonalization and emotional exhaustion positively influenced turnover intention. but emotional exhaustion and reduced personal accomplishment negatively influenced job involvement. And depersonalization and reduced personal accomplishment negatively influenced job satisfaction.
