This study aims to investigate the effect of sandplay on children's self-esteem and sociality. To
achieve this objective, pre-tests of self-esteem scale and sociality scale were conducted targeting
five-grade students in elementary school located in H Gun, Kangwon Province, and 16 children
who wanted to take part in the experiment were divided into four groups: two groups of boy
students and two groups of girl students, under an agreement of patients. After the 12-times
individual and group sandplay with each group (total 16 children: four groups, each four children)
for 70 minutes per week, pre and post-tests of self-esteem scale and sociality scale were conducted
to verify the effect of sandplay. In this study, as a t-test was carried out and the results were
analyzed using Window SPSS 12.0, and pre- and post-HTP and SCT were carried out as a
qualitative analysis. The findings of this study are as follows: First, the individual and group
sandplay improved children's self-esteem. Second, the individual and group sandplay enhance
children's sociality. Third, the individual and group sandplay had a positive effect on children's
self-esteem and sociality, according to a qualitative analysis of HTP and SCT.
