이 연구는 장래 통합교육을 담당하게 될 일반교육 전공 초등예비교사들에게 장애관련 자서 전을 읽고 독서 감상문을 쓰도록 한 후 감상문 속에 나타난 장애아동과 그 부모에 대한 특수 교육 관련 지식과 이해를 살펴봄으로써, 자서전이 장애아동 지도에 관한 실천적 지식을 증진 시키기 위한 교사교육의 한 방법으로 활용될 수 있는지 여부를 탐구하려는데 목적이 있다. 이 연구는 J시의 한 교육대학에서 ‘특수아동의 이해’ 강좌를 수강하는 2학년 학부생 32명을 대상 으로 이루어졌다. 자료수집 과정에서 32명의 예비교사들이 제출한 독서 감상문을 읽고 질적분 석 방법 중 하나인 지속적 비교법을 사용하여 분석하였다. 수집된 자료는 장애유형을 고려하 여 장애아동 특성, 장애아동 부모에 관한 이해, 예비교사 인식 및 반성이라는 3가지 주제에 따라 분석되었다. 연구결과 장애관련 자서전 활용이 일반교육 예비교사들에게 장애아동 및 부 모에 관한 이해를 증진시키고 장애아동에 대한 인식을 우호적으로 변화시킨 것으로 나타났다
An investigation on the use of a literature genre (an autobiographical method) as a part of the teacher education probed the impact of a reflective journal on teacher candidates' attitudes and recognition on people with disabilities to validate the teacher education as a way to increase the practical knowledge of the children with disabilities. Participants were 32 general preservice educators who took an introductory special education course in a college of teachers' education in a southern city of South Korea. The candidates in a 4-year undergraduate teacher program involved in reading an autography of an individual with disability and writing a written reflection as a course assignment. The study examined the impact of reflective writing on changing preservice teacher attitudes toward the children with disabilities and the practical knowledge of the persons. Constant comparative method revealed that the three themes were categorized: 1) characteristics of children with disabilities, 2) an understanding of parents of the children, and, 3) recognition and reflection of preservice teachers. The results showed an increase in recognition towards individuals with disabilities.
