When photography was regarded as inferior artwork and cinema as entertainment for the mass, Walter Benjamin detected the possibility of advent of the new subject from them. His argument seems still effective in this era of digital new media, since the media of 21st century remediate old media which contained elements of distraction and tactility and pursue them even further. This study analyzes one of the most popular MMORPG of today, World of WarCraft, to investigate how distraction and tactility are conceived through gameplay and what implication such attributes suggest. The result identifies that Benjamin’s insight is still effective today, in this era of digital new media.
