This study rediscovers Jeong, So-San as a pioneer of modern dance history in Daegu and investigates his impact on modern dance history, by finding out Jeong, So-San artistic achievements, studying his activities in more depth and considers her values in dance history, based on his life and artistic activities. Jeong, So-San from Daegu and Park, Ji-Hong from Naju, Cheonnam Province are the starting points of modern dance history in Daegu area, when analyzing the tradition and the succession of modern dance of this day. Jeong, So-San was a pupil of Ha, Gyu-Il in Daejeong Gwanbun, and was a pioneer and the living proof who had passed down and preserved precious values of court dance and carried on the legacy of modern dance history in Daegu during the fierce inflow of new dance in the 1900s. In 1969, Jeong, So-San's three court dances(Jeongjae); sword dance, drum dance and Pogurak passed the deliberation and then, were recognized as cultural properties of Kyungbuk Province. The interview with Jeong, So-San was even reported in Mail Newspaper, but they didn't obtained certification afterwards. Nevertheless, this fact supports values and impact of Jeong, So-San in the world of dance in Daegu. Starting with the 1st director of Daegu Korean Traditional Music Association, he also made friendly exchange with artists in Daegu and became the centre of modern dance history here, by pursuing folk dance and Korean-style dance as part of an effort to perform a new creative dance. The art historic assessment of dance activities of Jeong, So-San that played a pivotal role in modern dance history in Youngnam area, is the beginning of modern dance history in Daegu and can be an important scale and record to understand the history of dance and values of future-oriented arts. Therefore, Jeong, So-San's life and values in dance history would be an important criterion to define characteristics of modern dance in Daegu, and it would be possible to analyze modern dance history here from various perspectives.
