The purpose of this study was to identify the relationship among LCSI character traits, academic motivation and
self-efficacy of 5th and 6th grader students’ in public elementary school. In order to obtain this goal, we chose a sample
consisting of 524 students from three elementary schools placed in B city, and examined LCSI personality test, academic
motivation test, and self-sufficiency test. Correlation analyses and multiple regression analyses were conducted to find
out the relationship among three factors and their effect. The results of this study were as follows: First, LCSI character
traits and learning motivation have a meaningful correlation. The Controlling and promotion of character types and
internal motivation had a positive correlation. The challenge of character traits had a high positive correlation with
intrinsic motivation and extrinsic motivation, which suggested that character type and trait had a close relation with
academic motivation. Second, the LCSI character trait of 5thand 6thgrade students and self-efficacy had aclose
relationship. Asaresul tof the Lim’s character style inventory scale, challenge, sociability, and prudence of character traits
had asign ificant positive correlation with self-efficacy. Third, Self-efficacy had a positive effect on academic motivation.
Because self-efficacy affected on intrinsic motivation and self-regulating extrinsic motivation and social self-efficacy
affected on intrinsic motivation, self-efficacy and academic motivation showed a meaningful positive correlation. Fourth,
the LCSI character trait, academic motivation and self-efficacy were closely correlated. In addition, the significances
and the limitions of the study, and suggestions for future studies were also offerd.
