Now in the 21st century we are at a point in which a new value system and education fit for a new era is an immediate need. This paper was written under the premise that the content of the value education for the next generation, who will live in the 21st century, can be delineated as one of peace and harmony. Uncovering the peaceful and harmonious elements that have exerted power behind the scenes do the Korean cultural traditions in order to explore their use in modern education for the carring out of this type of value education is both the conclusion and purpose of this paper. This is now a time of cultural pluralism, and therefor, cultural education must be the most important aspect of all school education as well as museum education. In this respect, it can be said that Korean possesses advantageous and positive conditions for this. Of these conditions, the most important is the nature of Korean shamanism, which forms the Korean cultural foundation. Among the three nations of Northeast Asia, this Korean cultural foundation uniquely contributed to the implantation and tremendous growth of Western religion, and therefor, cannot be left out of the discussion about education for cultural pluralism. The possibility for an education of cultural pluralism and understanding grounded in Korea‘s intangible cultural heritage, the Kut, is wide open.
