Recently, family problems arising from sexual inequalities are critical social problems in Korea, most of those social institutions are predominantly based on the patriarchal capitalism. Family therapy, one of the direct countermeasures against these family problems is, however, not very appropriate and of effectiveness. Most important reason is that current family therapy in the level of both theory and practice, strongly depends on the patriarchal ideology, while the problems derive from the ideology. In order to overcome the flaws of existing family therapy strategies, feminist family therapy has been practicing in many Western Countries. Although feminist individual counseling had been practiced since about 15 years ago, feminist family therapy has not yet been properly introduced and practiced in Korea. Against this backdrops, the study aims to propose the strategies & skills of feminist family therapy as an alternative to traditional family therapy and examine the application of introducing and practicing feminist family therapy.
