The purpose of this study is to explore the meaning and directions of case management at the Community Social Welfare Center. With a special focusing on the value and perspectives of case management, multi-case qualitative research has been implemented to answer the two key research questions, the meaning and directions of social welfare case management practices. Collecting data through in-depth interview with 4 case managers from Community Social Welfare Center, the study found four different main themes regarding meaning of case management practices, such as ‘Establishing a human perspective’, ‘Bringing our own strengths’, ‘Expanding boundaries’, ‘Working toward broader community context.’ Regarding future directions of case management practices, the participants shared another four core themes, ‘Addressing the value of case managers’, ‘Roles of supervisors allowing the right direction’, ‘Establishing broader working relationships’, and ‘Work autonomy, rather than reducing case-loads.’ Based on the major findings of the study, authors suggested the necessity of customized training for managers and supervisors, establishment of unique strengths of community welfare centers, ways to integrate the different functions of the center, and the efforts for client-centered approaches.
