The purpose of this study is to analyze the cases of classical music performance of performing arts in the perspective of cultural democracy through combining the technology and performing arts as a method to develop performing arts which consequently contributes to practical affairs in the arts management of the project of performing arts. Thus, with the need of the study on the combination of the new technology and performing arts in classic music which requires creativity and emotions to respond to the change caused by the technical development in the 4th industrial revolution, this study was conducted. This study was performed by following methods. First, the grounds of combining the technology of the fourth industrial revolution with classical music performance was theoretically discussed in the concept of cultural democracy. Since music performance using AI could be variously developed through the convergence of the technology of the fourth industrial revolution, the convergence of Artificial Intelligence(hereafter, AI), which is a core technology of the fourth industrial revolution, virtual reality(hereafter, VR) and classical music performance was analyzed. Second, three cases of international and domestic classical music performance employing AI and VR were compared and analyzed. Third, data collection was conducted by the questionnaire survey with an exploratory method designed by Connelly and Clandinin (1990). The questionnaire was distributed participants who watched three selected classical music performances in order to gain the general viewpoint as for classical music performance combining with AI and VR. This study suggests the direction of classical music performance at the period of actively proceeding the fourth industrial revolution through exploring social and cultural meaning of the fact that classical music performance which has difficulty expressing by robots and machines is combined with the new type of the technology. It is expected that with in the music field, the new arts area will be able to be developed as well as furthered in the positive direction by more broadly accepting other fields and interacting and cooperating with the technology.
