This study aimed at exploring Dasan spirits from the perspective of practicing Dasanhak(Dasan studies) which appeared as a creative studies supposing theoretical critiques systematically about overall new Confucianism(Jujahak) based on Silhak(kind of pragmatism). Dasan Jeong Yak Yong(1762~1836) was a enthusiastic self directed lifelong learner who strived to solve social dilemmas in 17~18c Chosun dynasty. Bibliographical hermeneutic qualitative research methodology was used for this study. Specifically critical incident technique(CIT) was used additionally for the first research question. Materials for enducing Dasan spirit were self-written grave record, letters from exile, Dasanhak dictionary, Dasanhak studying, introduction to Dasanhak.. Categorization and coding processes were reviewed from 6 doctoral experts. As results, the core spirit of Dasan spirits was ‘owner spirit(ownership, Juin Jeongsin)’. Dasan spirit based on creating social values was ‘the spirit combining communication, cleanness, fairness, inquiry, creation and reform elements emerging from ownership and patriotic people loving mind’. From this study we could acquire the lessons that self improving through kyounghak and governing people or job performance through kyoungsehak should be done together to attain a more sustainable social values balancing morals and physicals, furthermore to cope with 4th industrial revolution era.
