The purpose of this study was to explore the trends of reading related researches for multicultural students and suggest the future direction for research by analyzing theses related to ‘muticultural and reading’. For analysis, each article was coded by degree course, grade level of participants, topic and topic of the study. For this, we selected 47 articles related to reading for multicultural students, published in theses for a degree for last ten years from 2010 to 2019. Results from this study demonstrate that 49 articles (about 84%) of those 58 studies targeted elementary school students. In case of research topics, 22 articles(about 47%) of studies dealt with the developmental abilities and characteristics of the participants. Most studies(about 66%) used the interventional method. Also, in the results of examining researches by classifying them in accordance with types of reading, the fluency-related and understanding reading-related researches were each 14 articles (about 23%). In relation to the results of this study, students from multicultural families showed risks of academic underachievement due to the linguistic differences. Moreover, it aims to suggest that the educational support reflecting diverse cultural backgrounds and contexts should be performed.
