In this study, We tried to find out the characteristics of North Korea s teacher policy in the Kim Jong-un era compared with the previous period. Traditionally, North Korea has valued education and has emphasized the role and quality of teachers as practitioners, revealing different characteristics from time to time. In the Kim Jong-un era, various efforts are made to enhance the qualifications of the teachers and to emphasize their professionalism. First, the role of teachers as professionals who can teach students well is emphasized. Second, emphasis is placed on re-education such as on-campus training and distance training to improve the professionalism of teachers. Third, it emphasizes the support for teachers so that they can concentrate on their educational activities. Fourth, the quality of prospective teachers is improved through the policy of placing excellent students in teacher training institutions and promoting them to universities.
