This study was conducted to explore the research trends in curriculum reconstruction in South Korea and provide a foundation for the orientation of the related research in the future. A total of 457 articles published in Korean scholastic journals from 1992 to 2018 were selected for this study.
The basic analyses were conducted in terms of publication year, research methods, school levels, and subjects matters of the selected articles. And, the further analysis was conducted about the research themes of the articles. The results by the basic analyses indicated the followings: the research related to the curriculum reconstruction of each year gradually increased, literature research was carried out the most under the research method, elementary schools were the most targeted at the school level, and there were a lot of papers on the reconstruction over multiple subjects. The analysis on the research theme of the published articles showed that it covered the themes such as program development and application, reconstruction experiences, teacher professionality, and philosophy·concept and that, among them, the most frequently published research theme was program development and application. Based on the results of this study, the implications for further research related to curriculum reconstruction were presented.
