본고의 목적은 일본 중학교 음악교과서에 수록된 전통음악과 관련된 내용 분석을 통해 일본의 전통음악교육의 현황을 살펴봄으로써 전통음악교육의 하나의 사례를 제공하는 것이다. 이를 위해 전통음악 비율 분석, 장르별 분석, 영역별 분석, 주요활동 분석으로 나누어서 살펴보 았다. 본고의 결론은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 일본의 모든 중학교 음악교과서는 전통음악 내용을 포 함하고 있었다. 둘째, 장르별로 살펴본 결과 성악곡이 가장 많은 비중을 수록하고 있었고, 영역 별 분석을 통해 성악곡을 가창 활동을 하기 보다는 감상이나 기악과 같은 다른 영역과 같이 제 시되고 있었다. 셋째, 학습지도요령에 ‘전통악기를 1개 이상 연주할 수 있도록 할 것’ 내용을 반영하여 전통 기악과 관련된 내용이 상세하게 수록되어 있었다.
The purpose of this thesis is to provide an example of traditional music education by examining the current status of traditional music education in Japan through an analysis of the contents related to traditional music in Japanese middle school music textbooks. It investigated the analysis of ratio of traditional music, analysis by genre, analysis by area, and analysis of major activities. The conclusion is as follows. First, the Japanese middle school music textbook contained all the contents of traditional music. Second, according to the analysis by the genre, vocal music contained the largest portion, and through analysis by area, vocal music was presented with other areas such as appreciation and instrumental music rather than singing. Third, contents related to traditional instrumental music were included in detail, reflecting Japanese’ government course guide’s “to allow more than one traditional instrument to be played.”
