Since the 21st century, the Guggenheim Museum launched the ‘Guggenheim UBS MAP Global Art Project’ to expand its collections, which were previously focused on North America and Europe, to South Asia, Southeast Asia, Latin America, the Middle East and North Africa. In contemporary art, the discussion about the diversity of the world has become a key issue. The Guggenheim Museum maintains its collection of works of active interaction and cultural exchanges with third world art through its connections with the world and consulting on the meaning of today s world-class art museums. The project was supported by the Swiss financial group UBS and selected artists, curators and educators from these impoverished areas to reflect cultural customs and history around the world and propose ways to expand the scope of the collection. In addition, the collection of the Guggenheim Museum is valuable because it seeks to enhance the social function of the museum by combining education and experience with the traditional functions of the museum’s collection, preservation, research and exhibition, and focusing on communication with the local community and participation of visitors. Therefore, this thesis attempted positive conversations with the visitors and activated educational information and meaning with the aim of grasping the meaning of the Guggenheim Museum s collection expansion.
