The current society is characterized as ‘participatory culture,’ which indicates the features of self-expression, communication and connection with community and social participation using digital technologies. In both education and museum field, connection and participation with the community are called as ‘community-connected learning or learning community . Museum which aims for community platform under its social roles and missions, especially, seeks for the direction toward a ‘participatory museum’, while digital technology in this approach is emphasized as a learning tool and environment. In this theoretical context and accroding to the conrrent COVID-19 situations, an online program developed by the design principles of ‘community-connected participatory museum learning’ has been applied to the Seonjam Museum for grades 4-6 students, and aimed to examine the changes in the digital citizenship of the students as the results of the program.
The analysis results from collected quantitative and qualitative data confirmed positive contribution to the cultivation of digital citizenship of the participants. The result of this study shows that the community-connected participatory museum might be a way to perform the social role of museums expected currently.
