안양공공미술 프로젝트(Anyang Public Art Project, APAP)는 미술을 매개로 지역 공동체의 회복 가능성을 보여주는 대표적 사례로 꼽힌다. APAP에 의한 지역 공공미술의 성과와 미래의 교육적 가치를 가늠해 볼 때 보다 적극적으로 학교와 연계 되어야 할 필요성과 더불어 궁극적으로는 APAP가 관 주도의 운영으로 인한 한계를 넘어 지역 커뮤니티와의 긴밀한 연계를 통해 공동체의 주체로서 참여할 수 있는 방안이 모색되어야 한다. 이를 위하여 국내외 지역 공공미술 사례를 분석 및 진단하고 APAP의 전개 과정과 현주소, 앞으로 나아가야 할 방향에 대해 알아보았으며 이를 통해 지역 공공미술의 활성화를 위한 토대로서 지역 공공미술과 학교와의 협력적 연계를 위한 방안을 제안하였다. 본 연구를 통해 지역에서의 협력 방안으로는 유관 기관의 교육적 활용, 공공미술 상설 프로그램 마련, 프로젝트 종료 후 지역민과 지역미술가에 대한 재정적 지원을 제안 하였으며, 학교에서의 협력 방안으로는 학교-지역사회 협력을 위한 교육 정책 실시, 공공미술 주제의 수업 방안 모색, ‘공공 미술 교육연구회’(가제) 조직 및 운영을 제안하였다. 본 연구를 통해 APAP(공공미술)-지역사회-학교가 유기적 연계를 맺어 APAP가 학교를 중심으로 지역민이 주체가 되는 공공미술로서 당위성과 지속성을 확보하고 보다 활성화되기를 기대한다.
APAP showed the possibility of recovery of local community. This study started with the recognition that APAP should be continued in consideration of the developments, achievements, and educational value of local public art shown in APAP. It analyzed and diagnosed cases of local and international public art and investigated the history, present state and direction of APAP. Based on these surveys and analyzes, it was intended to propose a plan for cooperative connection between local public art and schools. As a way to cooperate with the local community this study suggests educational utilization of related institutions, provision of permanent programs. As a way of cooperation in schools, it proposed an educational policy for school-community cooperation, possibility of classes on public art, and organization and operation of ‘Public Art Education research group’. Through this study, it is expected that APAP(public art)-community-school would be organically linked, and APAP would be able to ensure continuity and vitalize as public art.
