In the lifelong journey of faith, religious education should promote the practice and integration of faith in life, as well as faith in an individual and the community. Based on the ongoing and lifelong characteristics of education, religious education needs to bring about growth of faith in individuals and communities. Models of religious education, which consider factors like participants’ age and faith development, are to be applied to the practice of religious education. In addition, outcomes of systematic research on general religious education that deal with appropriate religious education methodology, effective religious education environment, and religious educator education should support the practice of religious education. These points have been emphasized in important documents of Catholic church’s religious education. However, they are not applied fully to the reality of religious education. Little academic research has been conducted especially in the area of adult religious education. This study intends to re-conceptualize Thomas Groome’s Sharing Praxis as an adult religious education model in a Catholic faith community in order to promote the practice of adult religious education. It reviews Sharing Praxis in the perspective of religious education for adults. Sharing Praxis aims to integrate life and faith and has been used in the field of religious education and ministry. This approach is composed of five movements: (1) naming/expressing present action; (2) critical reflection on present action; (3) the Christian community story and vision; (4) dialectical hermeneutics appropriate story/ vision to participants’ stories and visions; (5) decision/response for lived Christian faith. This study regards this approach as a meaningful and practical tool of adult religious education, as Sharing Praxis includes critical factors of adult religious education, such as use and reflection of experience, storytelling, community, construction of trustworthy educational environment and facilitator, as a main activity. Therefore, I expect Sharing Praxis to be widely used as a practical religious educational model for adults in Catholic faith community.
