본 연구는 자기결정성이론(SDT)에 기반하여 음악 학습 동기를 고찰하는 데 그 목적이 있다. 이를 위하여 먼저 SDT의 기본 원리를 파악하고, 다음으로 음악 학습에서의 내재적⋅외재 적 동기에 관한 연구를 종합하여 분석하고, 마지막으로 학생들의 내재적 동기 증진에 영향을 미치는 교사, 부모, 교육 환경에서의 심리적 욕구 지원(psychological needs support)을 살펴보았 다. 연구 결과, SDT는 내재적⋅외재적 동기가 음악 학습에 미치는 영향과 음악 학습 동기를 강 화하거나 약화시키는 방법을 개념화하여 음악 학습 동기의 복잡성을 이해하는 데 효과적이었다. 특히 교사, 부모, 교육 환경은 음악에 대한 학생의 자율적 참여를 향상 또는 저하하는 심리적 욕구 지원의 주요 요인임을 파악할 수 있었다. 본 연구에서는 이러한 결과에 대해 논의하고 후속 연구와 교육 현장에서 고려해야 할 사항들에 대해 제안하였다.
In this study, based on the self-determination theory (SDT), the motivation for music learning was investigated. To this end, first, the basic principles of SDT are identified. Then, the research on intrinsic and extrinsic motivation in music learning is synthesized and analyzed. And finally, psychological needs support from teachers, parents, and in educational setting was examined. As a result of the study, SDT was effective in understanding the complexity of music learning motivation by conceptualizing methods that can strengthen or weaken both intrinsic and extrinsic motivation in music learning. In particular, it was found that teachers, parents, and the learning environment were major factors in supporting psychological needs that enhance or weaken students' autonomous participation in music. In this study, these results were discussed, and issues to be considered in follow-up studies and educational fields were suggested.
