The purpose of this case study was to apply art therapy and identify its effects on the stress and resilience of a self-employed woman who closed a business during the COVID-19 pandemic. To this end, a self-employed woman who experienced the stress from the business closure due to financial difficulty during the COVID-19 pandemic was selected as the subject. Art therapy was then delivered 16 times for 60 minutes per session from March to June 2021. To identify the effects and changes, the Perceived Stress Questionnaire, Korean Resilience Quotient, and Person In The Rain were administered before and after sessions. Based on the reports from the subject, changes in stress and resilience were analyzed, and art works, therapy daily log, verbatim record were analyzed to examine changes presented in each therapy session. The following results were as obtained: (1) During the therapy sessions, the subject recognized and accepted the present, showing reduced stress and increased resilience. (2) According to the Perceived Stress Questionnaire, the subject’s psychological and physical stress lessened. (3) An improvement in subject’s indenpendent ability to overcome the difficulty was shown through an increased score for the Resilience Quotient. (4) Stress and resilience were improved in the process of each art therapy session. Based on these research results, the significance and limitations of the study were then discussed.
