Pastoral counseling is essential to the modern church. These days, Christians eagerly desire spiritual help and counseling more than economic assistance. Therefore, the pastor should have a good knowledge of counseling theory and their churches should be equipped with permanent counseling systems. Every church has different capabilities and all of the members of the church have different needs for counseling. Their systems are often not good enough for the whole church. Therefore the recommended strategies are to have two kinds of counseling - one inside the organization and one outside. The church should set up counseling systems in the same region together with the help of the regional government and other churches. The first type of counseling structure is an internal organization. This type takes care of counseling education for members of the church as well as public relations for church counseling activities. The preventive counseling and short term pastoral counseling make use of the internal organization. However, the special counseling which requires a lot of time and special techniques should be outsourced to the exterior organization (for example, counseling colleges and/or the counseling societies). The Christian who needs medical treatment for psychological matters should be sent to a hospital which has a psychiatrist.
