The purpose of the study was to develop a Reality Therapy group counseling program to improve interpersonal relationship of the hearing–impaired. A preliminary program was constructed by referring to the previous research on the characteristics of the Korean hearing–impaired, the contents and methods of the program for enhancing interpersonal relationship, and the fundamental contents and methods of Reality Therapy. The program consisted of eight sessions, 75–minute each session. The appropriate number of group participants was set as 5. The group leader was supposed to take a 32 hour training of the Basic Intensive Week of Reality Therapy. The major methods of the program involved using short sentences if possible, employing visual or activity–promoting materials, and designing simple, interesting, and repetitive activities. The result of the study showed that the program was considered appropriate for hearing–impaired people’s interpersonal relationship enhancement and was viewed meaningful in that it was the first trial for a group counseling program for hearing–impaired people’s.
