Fairbairn and Kohut are known as the most revolutionary theorists in the psychodynamic history. Though Kohut didn’t quote exactly, Fairbairn’s theory affected Kohut’s, Both of them have common things, and have a possibility to compensate each other. This study aims to compare the common and different things between Fairbairn’s theory and Kohut’s under the name of the personality structure, frustration and internalization, personality development, and psychopathology, based on the concept of self and object. In addition, this study considered the strategies to apply two theories into the Christian counseling and the implication from the integration viewpoint into Christian counseling. Fairbairn’s theory and Kohut’s lay a theoretical groundwork for the relationship–focused counseling and can provide nourishment to Christian counseling.
