본 연구의 목적은 첫째, 완벽주의 병리성의 원인과 현상을 이해하고, 둘째, 자기심리학과 초월상담이론을 통해 완벽주의 병리성에 대한 이론을 비교 고찰하고, 셋째, 기독교 상담 관점으로 이를 조명함이다. 연구 결과로 병리적 완벽주의는 수치심, 낮은 자기인식, 낮은 자기수용이 주요 요인이며, 나타나는 현상은 타인의 비난과평가에 민감하고, 불안과 두려움을 느낀다. 자신을 좀 더 과대하게 보이려는 과정에서 심리사회적 부정적 정서와 대인관계의 어려움을 경험한다. 자기심리학이론과초월상담이론은 공통적으로 병리적 완벽주의의 주요한 요인이 수치심이라고 보며, 인간의 감정과 인간관계를 중요하게 다루는 점, 병리적 현상을 심리사회적 특성을통해 설명하는 점 등 이론적 이해가 유사한 반면, 수치심의 근원, 인간존재, 책임, 대상에 대한 이해, 영적 이해, 치료적 접근 등 중요한 관점에는 차이가 있다. 자기심리학은 ‘상처 입은 자기애’, 초월상담이론은 ‘범주 이탈’로 완벽주의 병리성을 설명한다. 기독교 상담에서는 초월자와의 관계회복과 피조물로서의 자기인식 및 자기수용을 통한 완벽한 존재로의 변이적 내면화를 이루도록 돕는 기독교 상담 과정이필요함을 고찰하였다.
The purpose of this study is to understand the causes and phenomena of perfectionism and to compare theories of perfectionism between self psychology and transcendental counseling theory and to examine pathological perfectionism with christian counseling perspective. This study shows common understanding that the main causes of pathological perfectionism is “shame” and pathological phenomenon is explained through psycho–socio characteristics. In self psychology, shame is caused by the failure of idealized objects in human relationships and pathological perfectionism appears as a result of ‘wounded narcissism’ and ‘fragmented self.’ On the other hand, transcendental counseling theory understands shame is originated from the failure in relationship with transcendental beings, naming “scope estrangement.” Pathological perfectionism is considered as an attempt to escape from the shame by making the depressed self exaggerated by illusions when the instinct of the human beings, seeking perfection, is frustrated. For the pathological perfectionism, this study suggest a christian counseling process that helps mutational internalization into a perfect being through spiritual understanding.
