This study focuses on the experiences of the second generation of North Korean youth who have come to believe in Christianity by pinpointing how they have been exposed to Christianity. For this, phenomenological interviews were conducted to five Christian college students in their 20’s who are currently living in South Korea and analyzed by Colaizzi(1978)’s method. As a result, 46 themes, 16 theme–clusters, and 6 categories were derived and 6 categories were ‘Life in North’, ‘Family based evangelism(China/North Korea)’, ‘Religious experience within defecting course’, ‘Religious life in South’, ‘Turning point of faith’, and ‘Conversion to Christianity’. In order to understand the lives of young North Korean defectors and their experiences as a Christian, the Context and Crisis stages were applied to Rambo(1993)’s systematic conversion stage model. This study shows how the pastoral counselors should understand the younger generation of North Korea and equip for their faith development better.
