본 연구는 30여 년간 메스암페타민에 중독되었다가 양자변화를 통해 회복을 경험한 한 남성의 생애사를 살펴보고자 한다. 그의 생애사는 Mandelbaum(1973)이 제시한 생애사 ‘삶의 영역’, ‘전환점’, ‘적응’의 분석틀을 이용하여 분석되었다. 그의 삶에서 나타난 삶의 영역은 ‘고통스러운 기억으로 가득 찬 어린 시절’, ‘애착관계의 결핍 그리고 안정적 관계의 갈구’, ‘기독교에 노출과 하나님의 존재를 추구’, ‘메스암페타민과 변태적 성행동에 중독됨’, ‘마약 판매자로 모든 걸 누렸던 삶’으로 나타났다. 그의 전환점은 ‘기대하지 않았던 압도적인 영적 경험과 하나님과의 만남’이다. ‘전환점’ 이후 ‘적응’에서는 ‘기독교 신앙이 삶의 방식이 됨’, ‘이전 삶에서 벗어나고자함’, ‘마약충동, 변태적 성적 쾌감, 외로움이라는 주홍 글씨’, ‘안정적 관계에 대한 목마름의 해갈과 자기의 회복’이라는 주제로 범주화되었다. 본 연구 결과를 바탕으로 중독문제 개입에 대한 목회 및 기독교 상담 방향을 논의하고자 한다.
This study aims to explore a life history of a man who chronically abused methamphetamine(MA) over 30 years and his Quantum Change. The life history method suggested by Mandelbaum(1973) employed in analyzing data. The results revealed the followings. The dimensions produced 5 themes: ‘childhood filled with painful memories,’ ‘unsecure attachment and hungering for a stable relationship,’ ‘exposure to Christianity and seeking God’s existence,’ ‘being addicted to MA and deviant sex,’ and ‘affluent life as a MA dealer.’ The turning point is ‘overwhelming in sudden spiritual experiences and a meeting with God.’ The adaptations are ‘Christianity living,’ ‘abrupt abstinence to MA abuse,’ ‘struggling to escape from the previous life,’ ‘the Scarlet Letter as MA cravings, deviant sex pleasures and loneliness,’ and ‘quenching the thirst for a stable relationship and the restoration of self.’ Finally, the study discussed directions of pastoral and Christian counseling considering in addiction interventions.
