초등 도덕과에서는 2007 개정 시기부터 기존의 도덕교육에 대한 비판적 성찰과 함께 철학교육을 적극적으로 도입하였다. 이에 본 연구에서는 립맨과 매튜스로 대표되는 어린이 철학교육의 기본 이론을 탐색하면서 어린이 철학의 도덕교육적 시사점 및 구체적인 적용방안에 대해 살펴보았다. 어린이 철학의 도덕교육적 시사점으로는 첫째, 도덕적 행위자로서 학생들의 위상에 대한 근본적 성찰이 이루어진다는 점을 제시하였다. 둘째, 가르치는 교사의 역할에 대한 재검토의 필요성을 제안하였고, 마지막으로는 어린이 철학을 초등학교 도덕교육에 적용할 때 체계적인 접근과 비체계적인 접근 모두가 필요하다는 점을 들었다. 이를 바탕으로 제시한 실제 적용사례에서는 탐구공동체를 위한 교실 내외적 환경구성 방안, 철학적 토론 방법의 다양화, 도덕 교과서의 재구성 등을 제안하면서 도덕과 교육 현장에서의 어린이 철학 안착방안을 논의하였다.
From the 2007 revision period, philosophy education was actively introduced along with a critical reflection on conventional moral education in the elementary moral subject. This study examined the theory of children philosophy education represented by M. Lipman and G. Matthews and discussed the implications of moral education and specific application plans of children philosophy. The implications of moral education included fundamental reflection on the status of students, a review of teachers’ role, and diversification of educational methods. Examples of applying children philosophy include the composition of the environment for the inquiry community, diversification of discussion methods, and reconstruction of moral textbook.
