본 연구는 노인의 불안정 애착(불안 애착 차원, 회피 애착 차원)과 정신병리 간의 관계를 확인하고, 노인에게 특히 중요한 사회적 연결감의 역할을 탐색하였다. 이를 위해 65세 이상 150명을 대상으로 성인 애착유형 척도, 병원 불안 및 우울 척도, 사회적 연결성과 안정감 척도를 실시하였다. 구조방정식모형분석(SEM)을 통한 결과, 불안 애착 차원은 정신병리와 유의한 관련성을 나타내었으나 회피 애착 차원은 유의하지 않았다. 또한 사회적 연결성은 애착차원보다 정신병리를 더 강하게 예측하는 변인으로 나타났으며, 회피 애착 차원과 정신병리와의 관계에서 사회적 연결감이 완전매개하는 것으로 나타났고, 불안 애착 차원과 정신병리 사이는 부분매개하는 것으로 확인되었다. 이러한 결과는 노인 정신건강 증진을 위해 사회적 연결성 강화와 애착 유형에 따른 차별화된 접근이 필요함을 시사한다.
This study investigated links between unstable attachment (anxious and avoidant dimensions) and psychopathology in older adults, as well as the role of social connectedness. A total of 150 individuals aged 65 and above completed standardized measures for attachment, anxiety and depression, and social connectedness. Structural equation modeling revealed only anxious attachment was significantly related to psychopathology, while social connectedness was a stronger predictor than attachment dimensions. Social connectedness fully mediated the avoidant attachment–psychopathology link, and partially mediated the anxious attachment–psychopathology link. Findings highlight the need to enhance social connectedness and to develop attachment-style-specific interventions to promote mental health in the elderly.
