본 연구는 기존의 시각 중심적 해석 방식에서 벗어나, 뮤지엄 환경에서 이루어지는 다감각적 오브제 학습의 과정과 의의를 고찰하고, 다감각적 해석과 실천이 지니는 교육적 가치를 재고하는데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 뮤지엄에서의 해석 이론, 체화된 인지 이론, 정동 이론을 기반으로 뮤지엄 기반 다감각적 오브제 학습 사례 분석 틀을 설계하고, 국내 박물관 및 미술관 네 곳의 사례 분석에 적용하였다. 분석 결과, 각 뮤지엄은 시각 외 감각을 적극 활용한 에듀-큐레이션의 구현, 하나의 오브제에 대한 반복적이고 다층적인 경험 학습, 다성적 해석 제공에 따른 의미 구성의 심화와 확장, ‘미각’이라는 특정 감각을 중심으로 한 새로운 작품 탐구 방식으로 설계되었음을 확인하였다. 이는 관람객의 총체적인 오브제 해석을 지원하는 구체적인 학습 전략으로 기능하며, 향후 뮤지엄 교육에서 다감각적 접근과 해석 전략을 확장하는 데 실질적 도움을 제공할 것이라고 기대한다.
This study seeks to transcend conventional visually centered interpretive paradigms by examining the processes and significance of multisensory object-based learning within museum environments and by critically reassessing the educational value of multisensory practice. To achieve this aim, an analytical framework for museum-based multisensory object learning was developed, grounded in museum interpretation theory, embodied cognition theory, and affect theory, and subsequently applied to case analyses of four museums in Korea. The findings indicate that the institutions examined were designed to implement edu-curation practices that actively engage non-visual senses; to facilitate iterative and multilayered experiential learning centered on a single artifact; to deepen and expand meaning-making through the provision of polyvocal interpretive strategies; and to introduce novel modes of artistic inquiry structured around the sense of taste. These results suggest that such multisensory approaches operate as concrete pedagogical strategies that support visitors’ holistic object interpretation and offer practical implications for the advancement of multisensory interpretive frameworks in museum education.
