본 연구는 초등 합창 수업의 운영 방식을 발달 기반 관점에서 분석하고, 변성기 이전 아동의 음성 발달 특성에 기초한 수업 설계 틀을 제안하는 데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 아동 음성 발달 연구와 학교 현장의 합창 수업 운영을 분석하였다. 분석 결과, 초등 합창 수업은 학예회 및 외부 발표 중심의 성과 지향적 구조에서 일정한 음역과 음색을 기준으로 운영되는 경향을 보였으며, 이는 아동의 음성 발달 특성을 충분히 고려하지 못하는 방식으로 나타났다. 특히 변성기 이전 아동은 높은 기본 주파수, 미성숙한 성대 조직, 제한된 호흡⋅발성 협응 능력으로 인해 반복적 가창과 고정된 음역 요구에 취약한 특성을 지닌다. 이에 본 연구는 이러한 발달 특성을 반영한 합창 수업 설계의 핵심 준거를 도출하고, 준비, 소리 탐색, 앙상블 활동, 제재곡 학습, 표현 및 성찰로 구성된 교수⋅학습 틀을 제안하였다. 본 연구는 초등 합창 수업을 발달 기반 관점에서 재구성하기 위한 이론적⋅실천적 토대를 제공한다.
This study analyzes elementary choral instruction from a development-based perspective and proposes an instructional framework based on the vocal characteristics of prepubescent children. To this end, studies on children’s vocal development and instructional practices in school choral settings were analyzed. The findings show that elementary choral instruction is often organized around performance-oriented practices associated with school events, emphasizing fixed pitch ranges and uniform vocal timbre, which do not sufficiently reflect children’s developmental vocal conditions. Prepubescent children may experience difficulty with repetitive singing and rigid pitch demands due to high fundamental frequency, immature vocal fold structures, and limited respiratory-phonatory coordination. Based on these findings, this study derives key principles for choral instruction reflecting children’s developmental vocal characteristics and proposes an instructional framework consisting of preparation, vocal exploration, ensemble activities, repertoire learning, and reflection. This study provides a theoretical and practical foundation for reconstructing elementary choral instruction from a development-based perspective.
