이 논문은 고령화 사회의 문제를 노인들만의 문제가 아닌 전체 사회의 문제이자 세대간의 문제라는 관점에서 접근하였다. 세대간 갈등에 대해 사회심리학자들은 세대들이 각각 다른 목표를 갖고 제한된 자원을 놓고 현실적인 갈등을 일으키기 때문이라는 현실적 집단갈등이론, 인간의 인지능력 한계와 정보처리의 효율화를 위한 인지적 전략이라고 하는 사회적 정체성이론, 그리고 세대간의 부정적인 태도는 세대간의 접촉부족으로 인한 정보부족과 오해에서 오는 일시적인 현상이라는 세 가지 해석을 제안하고 있다. 그러나 우리 시대의 세대갈등은 어느 한 원인에 의해 촉발되기보다는 이 세 가지 측면이 모두 공존하고 있다. 이러한 세대갈등의 해결책으로서 이 논문에서는 세대통합의 교육노년학적 전략인 세대공동체 교육을 제안하였다. 세대공동체란 여러 세대 혹은 여러 연령집단이 하나의 공동체 안에서 교육적 활동에 참여하는 것이다. 또한 이 논문에서는 노인, 중간세대, 아동의 세 참여자와 프로그램의 내용, 개발과 선택의 준거를 포함하는 세대공동체 프로그램 개발모형을 제안하였다. 그리고 마지막으로 우리 사회에서 세대공동체 교육이 나아갈 방향에 관하여 논의하였다.

영문초록

The problems in aging society is not only the problems of the elderly, but the problems of the whole society and the problems with intergenerational relations. Social psychologists explained intergenerational conflict as one of follows: the theory of realistic intergroup conflict focusing on the divergence of goals of different groups, the social identity theory proposed by Tajfel regarding intergroup discrimination, and the theoretical approach in negative intergroup attitudes among generations by deficit in intergenerational contact. Today, intergenerational conflict result from all of them rather than anything of them. In this study, I proposed the community of generations education as an educational gerontologial strategy to improve intergenerational attitudes, increase intergenerational interaction, and then reach intergenerational integration. And I suggested the model of intergenerational program development including program three dimensions of participants, program categories, and program criteria. Finally, I discussed the directions and the prospects of educational gerontology and the community of generations education in the future.
