Literature on interviews as a research method and studies based on women interviewees became helpful guides that the researcher used to prepare herself as an interviewer and researcher. However, it did not take a long time before she realized that the guides were misleading in two ways. First, they erroneously lead readers to believe that sampling women interviewees in the real world is as simple as sampling even or odd numbers out of a pouch. Second, the guides mislead readers into perceiving that women interviewees are mostly empowered by the empowering women interviewers and, therefore, that interviews benefit the interviewees rather than interviewers. The author argues in the article that the readers of the interview guides have been misled in those two aspects, and adds two things that will prevent the guides from misleading the readers.
