This study, using national data sets and multi-level statistical analysis, compares the effectiveness of private women-only and coeducational colleges in the U.S. in facilitating students\' growth in cultural awareness and appreciation. Women-only colleges have a significant positive impact on developing students\' cultural awareness and appreciation. The effectiveness of women-only colleges is partially explained by their distinctive student peer orientation and faculty climate.
