To evaluate musculoskeletal workload associated with the work of beauty artists, to identify depression and musculoskeletal symptoms in beauty artists and to examine the alterations in the physical skeleton as well as in Daegu metropolitan city during a period ranging from December 1 to December 31 of 2010, the current study was conducted in 279 beauty artists (93%) and the relevant data was analyzed. A summary of the results and the resulting conclusions were as follows: Accordingly, in addition to the improvement of working methods as well as working posture, which reduces the work-related musculoskeletal workload in beauty artists, together with the overall changes in working environment (equipments including a chair, hand tools including a scissor, the working amount, the working environment, the interpersonal relationships and the customer relationship), the conversion of behavioral habit and recognition, in association with the physical and mental loading factors due to work-related stress, it might be imperative that the health promotion policy be established in working environment of beauty artists.
