The purpose of this study was to investigate how pre-service early childhood teachers recognize
professionalism of infant givers and to find out how to promote professionalism of infant givers based on
the results of the study. It was intended to provide fundamental information to build professionalized
environment toward infant givers.
Research questions were developed as follows upon the purpose of this study.
The results of this study were as follows. First, pre-service early childhood teachers recognized that
professionalism of infant givers was high in the perspective of societal needs. However, they recognized
that professionalism of infant givers was low in terms of socioeconomic status. Second, pre-service early
childhood teachers\' recognition of professionalism toward infant e givers was influenced by educational
background, and experienced student teaching in daycare. Third, pre-service early childhood teachers
recognized that teacher training program for caregivers should be systematically controlled 4-year program
with nationally certified exam. In addition, they recognized certifications for caregivers and kindergarten
teachers should be unified in the governmental level. It was also found that they were not satisfied with
training program for in-service teachers, work hours, salary, and balance between needs and supply in the
number of teachers.
