This paper is to identify Chinese teachers' understanding of teaching profession. In order to achieve this
purpose, we made up a questionnaire and investigated the present middle school teachers in Wei fang city,
China. The contents of this questionnaire consist of the professionalism of school teaching, chances of
becoming a teacher, the perception of student guidance, the relationship with parent and colleague, the
perception of instruction and good teacher. The results are following, firstly, in China, although the social
status of teaching profession is very high, the economic status is not high. Secondly, regarding the
guidance to student, although learning guidance has been achieved, life guidance and mental guidance has
not been achieved. Thirdly, although the interaction with school colleague has been achieved, the
interaction with parent has not been achieved. Therefore, it is necessary to encourage parent to take part
in schooling. Fourthly, although the teacher prepares for learning contents very hard, because of many
limits, they can not make the good use of instructional strategies.
