The purpose of this article was to analyze the effect of the cognitive and
affective learning types of university students of education on their learning
strategies. The Cognitive and affective Learning Style Inventory for University
Students(CALSIU: Kim, 2008) and Learning Strategies Inventory for University
Students(SIU) developed by E. J. Kim (2012) were administered to 500 students
of the university students of education in Gongju. Korea. The test results were
explored by regression analysis. The drawn conclusions were the following as:
First, logical type, whole type, and participative type students organize well
their notes to understand and memorize the learning contents. Second, surface
type, trial type, and participative type students make full use of the
memorizing strategies and study longer than in-depth type, observing type, and
avoiding type. Third, open type and close type students have conflicting traits.
The more the university students acquire traits of open type, the better they
challenging and highly enthusiastic but the less planned and managing oneself.
Fourth, participative type students make full use of all learning strategies.
